Bullet resistance

Even an SG1 or SG2 shotgun shell must, unfortunately, remain outside. The special manufacturing process means that SILATEC safety glass is not just particularly light and thin. It's also bullet-resistant like no other.

Low weight

A major advantage during installation. And especially in day-to-day use: as windows, glass and sliding and can be easily opened, closed and moved. Even by children. Or the lady of the house - even if she is characterised more by elegance than strength.


Extremely thin

Significantly more secure than armoured glass. But also colour-neutral, much lighter and thinner. 
The safest glass in the world actually doesn't need to be thick. It needs to be intelligent.


100% UV protection

UV light attacks colours, and can therefore irretrievably destroy works of art, antiquities or furniture. Therefore SILATEC filters UV radiation to the only correct extent: 100%. Visible sunlight, however, can pass through completely unfiltered. And this while maintaining absolute colour neutrality.


Heat protection

Excellent heat insulation values save on energy and operating costs. With simultaneously high transparency and a freely selectable heat permeability: high permeability for more solar heat in winter or low for good cooling in summer.

U value: Heat transfer coefficient.. Low U-value: low temperature losses, good insulation.

TL-value: Light transparency. A high value corresponds to high transparency.

G-value: Overall energy transmittance. High value for heat in winter, low value for cooling in summer. 


Anti-reflection

Anti-reflective glass is practically invisible, as it reflects scarcely any light and, like all SILATEC safety glasses, is absolutely colour-neutral. This enables a very open and impressive appearance.


Sun protection

It is generally more expensive to cool a building than to heat it. SILATEC absorbs solar radiation and thus the heat effect to exactly the degree that you want.

Alarm

You know: this glass is a wall. A burglar doesn't. For that reason a visible alarm loop can provide additional deterrence, for example at a jewellery shop. Alternatively, invisible alarms are also available: with an alarm loop burned into the surface of the glass.

Sound insulation

Because the interim layers insulate especially well, SILATEC also offers top-class sound insulation. The measurement values surpass those of standard insulation glass many times over (see table). For sound insulation other factors must, of course, be taken into account: e.g. window quality, structural element connections or room design (furniture, floor covering, geometry, etc.).

Fire protection

Silatec can also be manufactured in combinations with fire protection. So that you can use the escape route in complete safety. Under the effect of heat, one or more interim layers foam up, significantly reducing the temperature.

According to the decisive European standards EN 13501 there are different classifications and fire resistance durations (see table).

Colour neutrality

Colour-neutral - but armoured glass is green. With envy. As SILATEC filters damaging UV light 100%, but, by contrast, lets visible light shine through almost unhindered. The so-called colour rendering index, which is the metric for colour neutrality, is surprising (see table).

Result: the colour neutrality of daylight is almost fully maintained.

Safety glass is flat. SILATEC is also available cylindrically. In many desired radii. So far we have been able to realise every special request. Include us in your planning at an early stage. As even small changes on paper can save a great deal of money.
