Panic doors make it easier for persons fleeing to open the door, even if the door is locked. Only very few burglar-resistant panic doors meet the safety glass requirements RC2, RC3 and RC4, in accordance with EN 1627/1630. 30 of those are in our product range.

RC2 and RC3 testing:

The tested laminated glass fittings fulfil the requirements for resistance to manual burglary attempts (attack on the surface of the panic glass) in the resistance classes RC2 and RC3 in accordance with EN 1627 / 1630 for use in door elements in flight and emergency routes. And the requirements related to resistance class P6B in accordance with EN 356. (This does not replace system testing).

RC4 D testing:
The tested laminated glass structure was tested in accordance with the test requirements of resistance class RC4 as per DIN EN 1627/1630. For the indicated resistance time, it prevents formation of a square opening that could be reached through with 120 mm on the sides. The internal operating elements must be structurally arranged and secured in such a way that they cannot be reached and operated through the opening with the tool sets specified in the standard. The glass structure achieves resistance class P8B in accordance with EN 356 and EH3 in accordance with VdS damage prevention. (This does not replace system testing).

Fire protection:
The combination of fire protection and panic glazing is a property-related special solution. There is no fire safety certificate in the form of a general permit from the construction authorities. For that reason the consent of the entire system, i.e. glass, frame and connection to the component require the approval of the authorities in individual cases. Fire protection glass is generally arranged on the attack side. This gives an asymmetrical glass design. The installation direction must be agreed with the responsible authorities.

The burglar-resistant panic glass: a glass for panic doors, or for doors in flight and rescue paths with burglar-resistant characteristics. Usually also with panic fittings in accordance with DIN EN 179 (standard door opener or impact plate), or DIN EN 1125 (horizontal actuation rods). 

For panic glazing - sometimes also called anti-panic glazing - special requirements apply. Glass that meets the requirements of DIN EN 356 is not sufficient. The national annex NA 10 of DIN EN 1627 recommends: "...even in impact-resistant glass tested in accordance with DIN EN 356, a small opening can be struck even in a very short time, in order to deliberately manipulate the opening mechanism. In related testing, the use of polycarbonate glazing has proven itself." 

Of course SILATEC panic glazing meets all requirements against manual break-in attempts (attack on the surface of the panic glazing) in accordance with DIN EN 1627 / 1630.
