Bulletproof glass for historical buildings

Enhancing security while simultaneously maintaining the architectural integrity of historical buildings poses special challenges. Especially where the appearance of window frames may not be altered, the additional weight of conventional bullet-resistant glass can be a problem. In addition, the original beauty and appeal must not be compromised by dark or distorting armored glazing. SILATEC resolves this dilemma, with crystal-clear, lightweight bulletproof glass that provides extremely high levels of bullet resistance.

Modern technology for historical buildings

We can offer bulletproof glass for trouble-free retrofitting into historical frames. Conventional insulated glass panes are typically between 36 and 50 mm thick with a weight of 30 to 60 kg/m². Only 25 mm thick and weighing just 52 kg/m², SILATEC BR4-NS 25/52 bullet-resistant glazing can be easily fitted to such frames for extensive protection – even against projectiles fired from a Magnum .44 handgun.
