Say goodbye to the assumption that bulletproof glass has to be thick and heavy, requiring special new frames. Thanks to superior technology, SILATEC bullet-resistant glass is exceptionally thin and lightweight. This makes it ideal for retrofitting into existing window and door systems with no compromise on aesthetics or security. At the same time, thicknesses vary depending on the weapons and ammunition the ballistic glass must resist (see table below for general guidelines).
Modern homes and buildings fitted with triple-glazed, heat-insulated glass can be easily upgraded to bulletproof security levels. As conventional glazing of this type is typically between 36 and 50 mm thick with a weight of 30 to 60 kg/m², the frame systems are entirely adequate for ballistic glass such as SILATEC BR4-NS 25/52. At just 25 mm thick and weighing in at only 52 kg/m², this bullet-resistant glazing even protects against projectiles fired from a Magnum .44 handgun.
In cases where existing frames are insufficient for the desired bullet resistance level, we will analyze conditions onsite and work with you and your contractors to develop a solution. Even if no ballistic glass from our product range meets your requirements, we will be happy to produce customized bulletproof glass for you.
It adds up to the best of both worlds: maximum security and peace of mind coupled with preservation of the architectural integrity, comfort and beauty of the building. We look forward to hearing about your needs in a personal consultation.
